The Gardening and Nature Club at St. Cuthbert’s Hartlepool recently hosted an exciting Wildlife Day to celebrate the importance of protecting our natural world. Pupils came dressed as animals and plants, creating a vibrant atmosphere that highlighted the beauty of biodiversity.

We were delighted to welcome the Durham Wildlife Trust, who delivered an engaging talk about hedgehogs, an endangered species in the UK. Children learned practical ways to help hedgehogs thrive, such as providing dog or cat food and fresh water in their gardens.

The day was filled with creativity and learning, as pupils produced stunning artwork and posters to raise awareness about wildlife conservation. Thanks to their efforts, we raised an incredible £150 for Durham Wildlife Trust, supporting their vital work in protecting local habitats.

At St. Cuthbert’s, we are committed to fostering environmental responsibility and inspiring our pupils to become caretakers of the planet.
