Reception pupils enjoyed a memorable and engaging learning experience as they visited the school’s roof garden for an exciting afternoon of discovery.

The session began in the classroom, where the children discussed where they live and shared what they already knew about Hartlepool. This helped build a strong foundation before taking their learning to the next level—quite literally.

Learning Brought to Life

From the roof garden, pupils were able to look out across the area and spot familiar places from above. This real-world perspective helped deepen their understanding of their local environment and made the learning experience even more meaningful.

The activity encouraged children to:

  • Explore their surroundings in a new way
  • Connect classroom learning to real-life experiences
  • Develop curiosity about the world around them

The visit was filled with excitement as pupils eagerly identified landmarks and shared their observations. It was a wonderful opportunity to combine outdoor learning with geography, sparking both curiosity and conversation.
