Supporting Our Community Through Harvest Festival Donations
A huge thank you to everyone at St Cuthbert’s for your incredible generosity and support during this year’s Harvest Festival. As part of our Harvest celebrations, pupils, families and staff came together to donate food for the Hartlepool Food Bank, helping to support individuals and families within our local community. The wonderful response from our school community demonstrated the kindness, compassion and generosity that are at the heart of St Cuthbert’s.
Crucial Crew Visit Helps Year 6 Learn Important Life Skills
Our Year 6 pupils had a fantastic morning at Crucial Crew, taking part in a range of engaging workshops designed to help them stay safe and make informed decisions. Throughout the event, the children learned about a variety of important topics, including drug awareness, water safety, road safety, basic medical training and even the potential dangers associated with artificial intelligence (AI). The interactive sessions provided valuable knowledge and practical advice that will help pupils stay safe both now and in the future.

Discovering Why Maths Matters
Our KS1 children enjoyed an exciting day learning all about why maths is important and how it helps us in everyday life. As part of their learning, the children explored the work of some famous mathematicians, discovering how their ideas have helped shape the world around us. They also discussed the many ways we use maths every day, from telling the time and shopping to cooking and travelling.
Learning Through Outdoor Maths Fun!
We were delighted to welcome Play Outdoors Hartlepool to St Cuthbert’s for a series of engaging parent and child sessions, where families explored the world of maths through fun-filled outdoor activities.
Gardening Club Enjoys an Autumn Adventure
Today, our Gardening Club enjoyed a fantastic afternoon outdoors with an autumn walk through Burn Valley Gardens. As we explored the gardens, pupils put their nature knowledge to the test by identifying different trees and shrubs using the shapes of their leaves and the fruits they produce. Along the way, we also spotted a variety of local wildlife, including squirrels and several species of birds. A particular highlight was seeing green parrots frolicking among the trees, which caused great excitement amongst the group!
Cross Country Success for St Cuthbert's
A huge well done to all of the children who were selected to represent St Cuthbert's at the recent Cross Country event. Our pupils were fantastic ambassadors for the school, demonstrating great determination, enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the competition. Most importantly, they had lots of fun while taking part and giving their very best effort.
Gardening Club Creates Bird Feeders for Local Wildlife
Our Gardening Club members had a fantastic time this week helping to care for our feathered friends by creating their very own bird feeders. Using bird seed and coconut oil, the children carefully made a nourishing treat for visiting birds. They melted the coconut oil, mixed it with the bird seed and then waited patiently for the mixture to set. Before long, their homemade bird feeders were ready to be placed outdoors to support local wildlife. ✨
Gardening Club Returns for a Blooming New Year at St Cuthbert's
The Gardening Club at St Cuthbert's Catholic Primary School, Hartlepool is excited to be back for another academic year, with pupils already getting stuck into a variety of outdoor activities. During the club's first session last Monday, children planted spring bulbs in the school's new planters, helping to prepare colourful displays that will brighten the school grounds in the months ahead. The pupils enjoyed learning about planting and caring for flowers while developing their gardening skills.
Reception Children Make a Wonderful Start at St Cuthbert's
St Cuthbert's Catholic Primary School is delighted to welcome its new Reception class of 2026, who have made a fantastic start to school life. During their first week, the children have settled into their new surroundings wonderfully, quickly adapting to classroom routines and embracing new experiences with enthusiasm and confidence. The Reception team has been incredibly proud of how well the children have adjusted to their new environment and the positive attitude they have shown throughout the week.
New Reception Starters Enjoy Lunch Visit
St Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School in Hartlepool recently welcomed its new Reception starters for a special school lunch visit, giving children an opportunity to experience a key part of school life ahead of starting in September. The visit allowed the children to practise choosing their own lunch and enjoy a meal alongside their future classmates in the school dining hall. Staff were delighted to see how confidently the children embraced the experience, making their selections and trying the food they had chosen.

Celebrating RHS Level 2 Award Success
St Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School in Hartlepool is celebrating exciting news from its Gardening and Nature Club, which has successfully achieved the Level 2 award from the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). The award recognises the club’s commitment to developing gardening skills and promoting environmental awareness within the school community.
Exploring Hartlepool from our Roof Garden
Reception pupils enjoyed a memorable and engaging learning experience as they visited the school’s roof garden for an exciting afternoon of discovery. The session began in the classroom, where the children discussed where they live and shared what they already knew about Hartlepool. This helped build a strong foundation before taking their learning to the next level—quite literally.
