This week, our Gardening Club set out on a mini adventure — a Plant Safari to spot the very first signs of spring!

Armed with curiosity and keen detective skills, the children became woodland explorers, searching for buds, shoots and early spring flowers. Along the way, they discovered snowdrops and crocuses in bloom, as well as daffodils beginning to stretch their green leaves towards the sky.

Their ultimate challenge was to find Herb Robert — a tiny, shy woodland plant linked to folklore and storytelling. Inspired by their exploration of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the children learned how this little flower connects to the mischievous character Puck (Robin Goodfellow).

A plant that Puck would certainly use for magical mayhem!

After some determined searching, the children were thrilled to finally spot Herb Robert — a perfect ending to their woodland adventure.

A wonderful session of exploring nature, linking learning, and celebrating the beauty of early spring.
