St Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School in Hartlepool recently welcomed its new Reception starters for a special school lunch visit, giving children an opportunity to experience a key part of school life ahead of starting in September.

The visit allowed the children to practise choosing their own lunch and enjoy a meal alongside their future classmates in the school dining hall. Staff were delighted to see how confidently the children embraced the experience, making their selections and trying the food they had chosen.

Teachers were incredibly proud of the children, who demonstrated excellent independence and enthusiasm throughout the lunchtime visit. The session provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to become familiar with their new surroundings and begin building confidence before the start of the new academic year.

The lunch visit was also a wonderful chance for staff to get to know the children and help them feel part of the school community before they officially join Reception.

A spokesperson for the school said: “It was lovely to welcome our new Reception starters for school lunch today. Teachers were so proud of how the children chose their lunch and then sat and tried the food they had picked. We are so excited to welcome the children into our school family in September.”

As September approaches, St Cuthbert’s looks forward to welcoming its newest pupils and supporting them as they begin their primary school journey as part of the school family.
