The Gardening Club at St Cuthbert's Catholic Primary School, Hartlepool is excited to be back for another academic year, with pupils already getting stuck into a variety of outdoor activities.
During the club's first session last Monday, children planted spring bulbs in the school's new planters, helping to prepare colourful displays that will brighten the school grounds in the months ahead. The pupils enjoyed learning about planting and caring for flowers while developing their gardening skills.
The gardening fun has continued throughout the week, with volunteers giving up some of their lunchtime to help harvest the school's potato crop. The harvest was a great success, and a few lucky children were even able to take some potatoes home to share with their families.
The Gardening Club provides a wonderful opportunity for pupils to learn about nature, sustainability and where food comes from, while working together and enjoying the outdoors.
The school is looking forward to growing even more produce in the future and hopes to share future harvests with even more members of the school community.
